CSRD Consulting and Reporting Services

Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is an EU regulation that defines corporate sustainability reporting for disclosure of environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts in a transparent and standardised manner. Effective from January 2023, CSRD introduced requirements that aim to enhance accountability and drive sustainability.

What is CSRD?

As the world faces a significant climate change crisis, the demand for businesses and organisations to be transparent and accountable about their impact on nature continues to grow at pace.

Organisations and businesses can no longer simply state they support the environment and are sustainable – they need to show evidence. The first companies will be required under CSRD to apply the new rules for the 2024 financial year, which will be reported in 2025.

How CSX can support your journey to compliance

At CSX, we provide tailored services to help businesses meet CSRD compliance and reporting requirements.

We support assessment of a business or organisations impact on nature and the climate with robust data collection methodologies, such as CSX’s digital twin approach and extensive data streams and AI-based analysis. By using our expertise, we can further support disclosure-ready metrics and targets.

We can adapt our biodiversity and carbon workstreams to work in harmony together to help organisations collect the baseline and monitoring data to assess their impact.

Our services include:

  • Assessing and monitoring the improvement of habitats and ecosystems with tree planting and peatland restoration
  • Using our extensive carbon knowledge to look at above-ground biomass
  • Biodiversity assessments, expanding on our biodiversity net gain (BNG) expertise to assist and support in creating and improving natural habitats in a measurable way.
  • Producing a topographic wetness index (TWI) and digital elevation models (DEM) to understand potential flow paths and water accumulation to potentially introduce ponds or wetlands or introduce flood mitigation measures
  • Terrestrial laser scanning in woodlands to build a 3D model of an individual tree to calculate its above ground biomass to then measure carbon sequestration
  • Drone imagery to collect high resolution images – creating a digital twin – of the land to build a time series analysis that demonstrates land use change and its impact

Are you a land owner looking to sell carbon or BNG?

Carbon and BNG credits are an incentivised way to make your land work for you. If you're a land owner interested in learning more, get in touch with one of our CSX experts.

Who does CSRD affect?

The CSRD applies to large and listed companies in the EU, defined as those meeting at least two of the following criteria:

  • Net turnover exceeding €40 million
  • More than 250 employees
  • Total assets exceeding €20 million

UK companies with EU operations or supply chains are also affected. Starting in 2026, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will fall under the directive’s scope, making early preparation essential.
